This luxury cruise line will open the ‘southernmost hotel on earth’

Silversea Cruises is expanding – this time on land.
The luxury cruise line is developing a hotel in Puerto Williams, Chile, the world’s southernmost city. The 150-room property will offer a comfortable stopover for guests on voyages to Antarctica, Silversea announced.
“We’re thrilled to enhance the Antarctic travel experience by offering seamless journeys that remove traditional barriers for guests to this region,” Bert Hernandez, the line’s president, said in a news release Wednesday. “This development not only differentiates us from other polar expeditions but also reaffirms our commitment to innovation and excellence as Silversea continues to set the standard in experiential luxury travel.”
The hotel will feature views of the Beagle Channel and Patagonia mountains, along with a restaurant, bar and lounge, fitness center and more. Passengers booked on the line’s Antarctica Bridge fly-cruise program – which also allows them to bypass the often treacherous Drake Passage – will fly straight from Santiago to Puerto Williams.

Construction is expected to wrap up at the end of 2025. The line is partnering with a consortium of Chilean investors on the project and pledged to “work with stakeholders to create opportunities for economic growth while preserving the unique cultural heritage and minimizing environmental impact in the area,” according to the release.
